Massimo Polidoro: In Search of Mysteries 20 years of of research among ghosts, super-humans and fairy tales
During the last 20 years, Massimo Polidoro has investigated dozens of cases of supposed paranormal events and historical enigmas. His work has helped shed new light on famous cases like Eusapia Palladino's seances, Houdini and Conan Doyle's friendship, the creation of Spirit Moulds, Alla Vinogradova's PK demonstrations, Uri Geller's performances… He has also conducted many on site investigations (haunted castles, firewalk activities, poltergeist episodes, crop circles…) and has tested various self-proclaimed psychics. Clairvoyants, mediums, human magnets, girls with X-Ray eyes, table-tippers, prophets, healers and many other claimants have been tested by Massimo along the years. Although the results have so far never provided proof of real paranormal activities taking place, they nevertheless tell a fascinating story on the human will to believe and capacity to self deceive. The results of Massimo's work have been published in various journals, including ''The Skeptical Inquirer'' and the ''Journal of the Society for Psychical Research'', and in books like "Secrets of the Psychics" and "Final Seance". In telling these fascinating stories during his lecture, Massimo makes ample use of video material, live demonstrations, magic tricks and experiments involving members of the audience.
Massimo Polidoro, co-founder and Executive Director of CICAP (The Italian Committee for the Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal) and Research Fellow of CSI (The Committee for Skeptical Inquiry), is one of the foremost investigators on the paranormal and the occult. Psychologist, author and magic expert Massimo also teaches a Course in "Scientific Method, Pseudoscience and Anomalistic Psychology" at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Milano (Italy). He was the only student James "The Amazing" Randi ever apprenticed for over a year in the art of investigating extraordinary claims and is currently a successful author of many books and a TV personality (his latest TV series, "Legend Detectives", was broadcasted internationally by Discovery Channel). He is successor to Martin Gardner in holding a regular column on "The Skeptical Inquirer" and has seen his 30 books translated in various languages, including English, Spanish, Brazilian, Estonian, Polish and Hungarian.
